Seppi sends Delbonis out of ATP European

The 100th-ranked Andreas Seppi beat eighth-seeded Federico Delbonis 7-6 (9-7) 5-7 6-3 on Monday to advance to the second round of the inaugural European Open.

The Italian player next takes on Dutchman Robin Haase, who had an easier time against Paul-Henri Mathieu of France with a 6-4 6-2 victory.

Also, Inigo Cervantes of Spain beat Germany's Michael Berrer 6-1 3-6 6-1.
