Former federal sports minister Mark Arbib has won a spot on the Australian Olympic Committee executive.
He fills the vacancy following the promotion of longtime Australian Winter Games chef de mission Ian Chesterman to AOC vice-president.
Arbib is also the president of Athletics Australia.
The other three contenders were Football Federation Australia board member Cheryl Bart, three-time Olympic hockey gold medallist Rechelle Hawkes and Equestrian Australia director Gillian Rolton.
AOC president John Coates welcomed Arbib's appointment.
"He knows us as a former minister for sport and will be a great help in Canberra," Coates said in a statement.
"Importantly, he understands the needs of athletes at both the elite and grassroots levels of sport."
