Jaeger O'Meara's playing future hangs in the balance with just hours left in the AFL trade period as Gold Coast and Hawthorn remain locked in a bitter dispute over his trade value.
Suns chairman Tony Cochrane angrily rejected the Hawks' latest off of picks 10 and 48 on Wednesday, adding Hawthorn had chosen the wrong year to challenge his club at the trade table with the Suns well-stocked with draft picks.
O'Meara would be forced to nominate for the draft where Essendon hold the first overall pick if a deal cannot be reached.
Several potential trades remain up in the air on Thursday with a flurry of activity expected before the 2pm AEDT deadline.
Richmond star Brett Deledio is set to join Greater Western Sydney after the Giants made a surprise late bid for the veteran Tiger.
GWS confirmed Deledio had nominated them as his preferred destination, in a statement released on the eve of the final day of the AFL trade period.
"The Greater Western Sydney Giants can confirm that Brett Deledio has agreed to join the club," the statement read.
"The Giants will now work with the Richmond Football Club to finalise a trade."
In other notable moves, Carlton and Adelaide will try to break a stalemate over Bryce Gibbs and Josh Caddy is mulling a potential switch from Geelong to the Tigers.
Dion Prestia, a close friend of Caddy's, could be a factor in the move after the 24-year-old got his wish for a trade from Gold Coast to Richmond on Wednesday.
"I've known him since I was about 13, through junior footy," Prestia said, adding he had spoken to his friend about a possible move.
"We lived together on the Gold Coast for two years ... it would be pretty exciting if we got back together."
Travis Cloke's switch from Collingwood to the Western Bulldogs is still yet to be finalised, Cats Shane Kersten and Nathan Vardy are still trying to get to Fremantle and West Coast respectively and Giants Caleb Marchbank, Jarrod Pickett, Will Hoskin-Elliott and Rhys Palmer are still waiting to find out where they'll be playing next year.
