Controversial AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli has been fined €10,000 for making an offensive gesture to Inter Milan fans during their Seria A derby on Sunday.
Balotelli, who played for Inter for four years from 2006-10 before his move to Manchester City, made the gesture at the Inter fans as he left the pitch after the 1-1 draw.
The Italy striker's gesture was in response to racist taunts levelled at him by Inter fans throughout the game. Spectators hurled inflatable bananas at Balotelli, who is of Ghanaian descent, and chanted racist slogan. Offensive banners were also unfurled during the match, with their messages directed at Balotelli.
Inter Milan were fined €50,000 for their fans' behaviour during the match. AC Milan was also fined €10,000 for an offensive banner displayed by their supporters.
